The 5ivepillars Love Capsule releases this Friday, January 7th at 5ivepillars.com. The campaign highlights renown comedian, Sammy Edan as he speaks upon love for his craft and what it means to him:

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

SE: I'm Sammy Edan and I am from Somalia. I was born in Oakland and grew up in London and Qatar. Graduated UC Davis in 2018 in engineering and now I live in Sacramento.

What pushed you to get into comedy?

SE: I hosted a few events in college and I made a lot of people laugh on and off the stage. It wasn’t until after I graduated that I felt the need to keep making people laugh. I didn’t feel fulfilled as an engineer so I decided to pursue comedy.

Have you found love within your craft?

SE: Yes, I love it. It genuinely makes me happy to see others laugh. I couldn’t ask for more.

What are the challenges you face when working on it?

SE: The challenge is that something you love is now a profession. Deadlines take some joy out of the process. I try to give people as much as I can on stage, in videos with new content as well as working a 9-5 and keeping a decent social life. The challenge in comedy is also part of the fun as its the only profession I know that takes everything from me. My thoughts and reasoning, my face and body movements, and my emotion on any given night, affects my performance. Every routine and every performance is a roll of the dice.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to get into comedy in their future?

SE: Do it for love, you won’t make it if you don’t love the process in its entirety.
