5ivepillars partners with multidisciplinary storyteller Asfar Khan to introduce a deeply personal collection rooted in faith, family, and cultural duality. Titled “A Mother’s Dua”, the offering explores the unseen power of a mother’s dua (prayer) and how those blessings have quietly shaped and protected her children through life’s journey.
Born and raised between New York and Karachi, Asfar’s storytelling draws from both worlds — his first-hand experiences across the intersections of two cities that continuously inform his creative language. The inspiration for this collection traces back to a tweet Asfar shared in 2020: “My mother’s duas have served as a Teflon vest all my life.” The sentiment resonated widely, becoming the foundation for a narrative that honors the unseen strength of a mother’s prayers.
Longtime friends and collaborators, Asfar and Farrukh of 5ivepillars have shared a creative dialogue for nearly a decade. Their mutual respect and shared values made this story a natural fit for 5ivepillars. In 2022, Asfar developed the first concepts for the project and flew to Sacramento to present them to Farrukh in person — a gesture that spoke to the depth of belief behind the idea.
The collection highlights a wide range of styles including hoodies, tees, headwear, scarves, and a throw blanket — each crafted to reflect the story’s spiritual and emotional layers. Every item serves as a tangible reminder of the invisible protection and guidance that duas represent.
The collection features a range of apparel and accessories including hoodies and tees as well as headwear, scarves, and a throw blanket—each designed as a reflection of the story’s emotional depth. The hoodies are crafted from 500 GSM heavyweight cotton and read “If you’re close enough to read this, you mean a lot to me,” offering subtle messages of warmth and connection, while tees are offered in a 260 GSM French Terry cotton, each feature lines like “Heaven lies beneath the feet of your mother” and “When you have your mother’s prayers, you can stand against the world”.
The collection is completed with a range of caps and a beanie featuring custom Asfar Khan for 5ivepillars co-branding as well as a woven throw blanket stitched with the words “A Mother’s Dua feels like a safety blanket,” alongside a custom set of playing cards created to be shared and played with one’s mother, complete with custom game rules to honor her.
“A Mother’s Dua” by Asfar Khan & 5ivepillars releases Friday, October 24th 10 AM PST / 1 PM EST / 9 PM GST exclusively on 5ivepillars.com.
